Monday passed and it doesn’t feel like one! Yeah, it was Easter‼ So, still in the mood, I’ll say Happy Easter.
I have been sharing my thoughts on identity the past few weeks and I have gotten interesting feedbacks.
My submission is that most of us will live our whole lives knowing, building up and reinforcing who we are and who we need to be. We will need to listen to ourselves enough to begin to make sense to ourselves. Our description of self has largely been based on what we were told, that gets reinforced over the years; the perception of others about us; the labels thrown around us; the jobs we hold; the mistakes we have made; the circumstances, events and experiences of life and all we have been told to BE!
We owe ourselves the truth of who we really are, what we are made of and who we are becoming because that will be our truth. The true self is what we are becoming.
In the spirit of Easter and all that it stands for, we all can be transformed from who we are to who we need to be. There is a prescription for identity which is the borrowed one secured by the all-in-one sacrifice and with all the basis to own it and become.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
~ Marianne Williamson
The first time I read this quote, I didn’t understand it: I could relate with the word “deepest fear” but I couldn’t relate with admitting great adjectives about myself, I needed to be humble, I read over and over and everytime I read, I find meanings and I ask more questions.
“Who am I not to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
Remember as always, you do not need permission to become who you need to be, just like NIKE will prescribe ~ Just do it!! So, I’ll say JUST BE!
